Water restored to Shipston residents
Households in Shipston whose water has been cut off in recent days have had their supplies restored according to Severn Trent Water.
Some homes had been without water since Friday whilst other suffered from low water pressure.
The company says water supplies to all affected customers have now been restored and blamed a burst water pipe in the Banbury area for causing the problem.
Severn Trent said that when the pipe burst air got into the system and caused issues and further bursts through their network of pipes.
Customers in Long Compton are also thought to have been affected.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We know how difficult it is to have no water, and we’re very sorry for the disruption.”
The company said that for those customers who were affected, when the water supply does return it may be slightly aerated.
This is normal and is caused by air getting trapped in the water and making it look cloudy or milky.
The spokesperson added: “We know that it's not nice to have discoloured water, but we want to reassure you that although unappealing, we have no reason to believe there is any risk to your health, however we understand that whilst the supply is discoloured you may choose not to drink the water.
“To help fix this problem we advise that you run the first mains fed cold water tap in your house, normally at the kitchen sink, at a gentle rate (about a pencil thickness) for a short while. If the supply is not clear then turn off the tap for 20 minutes and then repeat the process.
