The hugely-popular Warwick Folk Festival, now in its 38th year, returns on Thursday, 21st, to Sunday, 24th July.

The festival is headlined by The Unthanks, winners of Best Album in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards this year and favourites of such celebrities as Lord of the Rings star Martin Freeman — so you never know who you might see down the front!

Nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and the only British folk representation in The Guardian’s and Uncut’s best albums of last decade, The Unthanks is a family affair — led by Tyneside sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank.

Headlining the festival on the Friday is another award-winning group, well known for their sell-out Albert Hall concerts, Show of Hands. Songwriter Bob Fox, who is also performing, is best known as the Songman from the West End hit War Horse.

Canadian quartet, Le Vent du Nord, bring the festival to a close on the Sunday. Dick Dixon, festival director, is looking forward to the long weekend.

He says: “This year’s festival really has got something for everyone and tickets are selling better than ever. As well as festival favourites such as Show of Hands, we’ve got a fabulous dance line-up, including local hero Will Pound and his Ceilidh band, and a great range of workshops. If you’ve ever wanted to try a new instrument or dance step, here’s your chance.”

Family entertainment is provided with circus and craft workshops, street theatre shows, along with a wide variety of food and refreshments, including a Prosecco bar.

Adult evening tickets are from £18; four-day tickets from £105; children under ten free, concessions available. Camping at Warwick School is available.
