Walking in a woollen wonderland!

A COLOURFUL yarn bombing recently hit the grounds of Holy Trinity Church in Stratford, creating a Woollen Winter Wonderland all in the name of charity.

The yarn bombing, in its second year at the church, helps raise money for Goodwill and Growth for Africa UK (GAGA UK), a town-based international children’s charity. Hundreds of squares of yarn cover the trees at the church with the support of a variety of businesses, community groups and local residents.

It is in conjunction with a Remembering Tree in Bancroft Gardens where people can honour lost loved ones.

Sarah Hodgson, director of GAGA UK, said: “It makes people smile, just the impact of it and the colours. It’s become a Christmas tradition in Stratford.”

The charity has already passed the £2,000 raised last year, and hopes to raise £3,000 during this year’s campaign, which ends by mid-January. On its completion the squares will be taken down, made into blankets and donated to organisations in Africa.
