VIDEO: World famous violinist to perform in Chipping Campden
NICOLA BENEDETTI, one of the world’s most acclaimed violinists, will be visiting Chipping Campden this month to perform two of the great Romantic violin concertos with an orchestra made up of young people.
She will be taking part in the Chipping Campden Festival Youth Academy Summer School which is being held from Saturday 20th August to Saturday 27th August.
Ms Benedetti will be the soloist in the Violin Concerto in D major Op 77 by Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) on Thursday 25th August and the Violin Concerto in D major Op 35 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) on Saturday 27th August.
Both concerts – the first of which will also include the Symphony No. 3 in A minor Op. 56 “Scottish” by Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) and the second the Symphony No 3 in E flat major Op 55 “Eroica” by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) – will take place at St James’ Church in Chipping Campden.
The orchestra will be made up of secondary school aged students and their postgraduate mentors who will be taking part in the second Youth Orchestra Summer School organised by Chipping Campden Music Festival.
