It is the fifth year that Save a Life September has been held, teaching thousands of people life saving skills for free.

Emma Elgerton, community training co-ordinator for St John Ambulance in the West Midlands, said: “First aid is for everyone and it’s easy and fun to learn.

“We believe that everyone should have first aid knowledge and the more people that take part in Save a Life September, the higher the chance that someone will be on hand to help when it’s needed most.”

A video has also been produced as part of the campaign.

It features comedian and actor Rufus Hound, who plays a hapless teacher, whose lack of first aid skills leads to disastrous consequences for his pupils and demonstrates why everyone should learn a lesson for life.
