A RING worth between £5,000 and £8,000 was just one of the many items valued by experts at Holy Trinity Church during an Antiques Valuation Day on Monday.

Vases, maps, jewellery and paintings were all brought to the church at an event organised by Friends of Shakespeare's Church to raise money for the ongoing renovation of St Peter’s Chapel.

Simon Davies, senior valuer and auctioneer at JS Fine Art of Banbury was on hand with his colleague Sarah Lewis to value visitor items one of which was an enamelled brooch – possibly Russian – which they estimated to be worth between £2,000 and £3,000.

“It was a nice, steady trickle of people and we had some interesting things to look at, none with a Shakespeare connection but an old book about Stratford we thought was worth £300.”
