Two women hospitalised after head-on collision




TWO elderly women had to be freed from their cars after a head-on collision on the Loxley Road, Stratford this afternoon, Tuesday.

Multiple appliances attended from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue at 1.45pm near the junctions of Pilmlico Lane and Knights Lane.

Two fire engines, one from Stratford and one from the Shipston area were mobilised initially, but two more from Henley and Leamington Spa were called in to assist, using hydraulic rescue cutting equipment to free the women from their vehicles.

Two ambulances and a paramedic officer responded from the West Midlands Ambulance Service. One elderly woman was treated for foot and leg injuries and a suspected pelvic injury. She was given pain relief and taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

The second patient was treated for shoulder pain and bruising to the hand and taken to Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

A stretch of Loxley Road has been closed close to the Croft School and it it not known when it will re-open.

Warwickshire Police also responded to the crash.
