Two taken to trauma unit after crash near Wellesbourne

Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and a paramedic area support officer were sent to the scene. The response vehicle arrived inside eight minutes of the 999 call.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a car that had gone through a wall on a bend into a ditch and had then overturned landing back on its wheels.

“A woman, who had been in the rear seat, was out of the car on arrival, though it wasn’t possible to determine how she had got out. She had suffered potentially serious internal injuries and had abdominal pain.

“After being immobilised, she was taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire.

“A man who had been in the front of the car was extricated from the wreckage with the help of firefighters. He had suffered chest injuries from the seat belt.

“He too was immobilised and was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.

“A third occupant, believed to be a man, was not at the scene.”
