A three day festival of fishing is taking place in Shipston this weekend.

The Fish ‘n’ Frolics Festival will run from today (Friday) to Sunday at the Sports Club on London Road.

Organisers say the free event will offer something for the whole family including fishing fun days for youngsters, live music, a pig roast, food tent, guest ales, bouncy castles, stalls and a fairground.

Various fishing competitions for old and young are taking place during the weekend, which has been organised by Stuart Fleming from the Shipston on Stour District Angling Club.

Stuart said: “Our fishing festival was set up three years ago to celebrate the 60 birthday of our angling club. Due to its success it has now become an annual event, and we were really grateful to the local community for their support.

“Our festival has proved very successful in attracting young people into fishing. It’s all about having fun; attracting young people into rural activities, and educating them about nature and our local environment.”
