Mickleover Sports 0-1 Stratford Town

FA Trophy, Second Qualifying Round Replay

MIKE Taylor was Stratford Town’s hero as they progressed to the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy for the first time with victory at Mickleover Sports on Tuesday night.

The striker, who had started on the bench, came onto the pitch on the hour mark in the replay and then bagged the winner two minutes from time.

Chris Cox provided the cross and Taylor fired home for his 12th goal of the season.

The win means Town will now entertain South Shields on Saturday, 28th November.

Town just about edged a contest of few chances against their Northern Premier hosts, with Albi Skendi having an effort cleared off the line and Lewis Wilson tried to force home a loose ball.

But Mickleover could have struck when Evan Garnett broke clear but smashed his shot over the target.

Full report online tomorrow and reaction in this week’s Herald.
