Swap shop set to boost Mencap coffers

Wellesbourne Airfield

The idea of a swish is simple; exchange your unwanted clothes, bags, shoes, jewellery or other accessories with other peoples.

A bargain way to clear out your cupboards – and swish your way to a new wardrobe, raising money to support local people with learning disabilities along the way. A little pampering will be available on the night too, from manicures to blow-dries, with drinks also on offer.

All items up for exchange are quality goods, as Karen Rousell, chair of the Friends of Heart of England Mencap, said: "This is the second swish we have organised – the first was a real success.

"It is all about exchanging real quality goods, from scarves to shoes, jeans to dresses, if you have some great goods lying in your wardrobe going to waste, bring them along and take home something new.”

Tickets to Licence to Swish cost £5, to include a drink. All items up for exchange will cost just £1.50 each to take home.

Goods can be taken along on the night - there is no need to donate in advance - but people are asked to please bring hangers.

Demand for tickets is expected to be high so advance booked is advised. For tickets and further information call Karen on 07817 641248.
