Students set for 600km challenge
THE 600th anniversary of the start of the construction of Stratford-upon-Avon’s Guildhall - which contains Shakespeare’s Schoolroom - will be marked with an equally physical challenge by students from KES.
Thirty eight students will cycle, row and run a combined 600km on Saturday, starting and finishing at the school.
Eight students will cycle 50km from 8am, ten students will row 5km from 9am, and once the rowing target has been met 20 runners will start a 7.5km run.
As well as marking the anniversary, the teams are looking to raise more than £5,000 to be split between the school's chosen charities – Myton Hospice and Great Ormond Street Hospital - as well as providing funding towards their own sports facilities.
Richard Mahony, director of sport at KES, said: "Following on from the success of the Race to the Tower last year, the KES 600 Challenge is an inspirational race that will test our performance students as well as raising much needed funds for our charities as well as sport in the school.
"Please come and join us on the day to cheer both teams on."
The KES 600 Challenge is supported by Amicus Accounting, The Rosconn Group, Lodders Solicitors, FPS Distribution, Johnsons Coaches and RD Property.
