Stratford-upon-Avon's traditional Mop Fair was officially opened today by the Chairman of Stratford District Council Cllr Chris Kettle.

Despite the poor weather, civic officials braved the rain to try the spectacular rides and attractions on offer.

Meat from a pig roast on Waterside was also auctioned off in aid of charity.

Members of the civic party took to some of the rides including the dodgems in Bridge Street, Mayor of Stratford John Bicknell being pictured behind the wheel driving fellow town councillor Chris Wall. Photo: Mark Williamson
