Storm Henk floods saw Stratford shop sell out of wellies and waders

THERE was a run on waterproof gear as shoppers waded into the wellies at a Stratford fishing tackle shop.

Storm Henk brought floods that left many people in urgent need of wellingtons and waders as they tried to salvage items from their homes and businesses after relentless rain last Tuesday (2nd January) triggered rivers like the Avon and Stour to burst their banks.

Martyn Edwards, pictured, who owns Stratford Fishing and Outdoors Ltd, said: “It’s been a pretty awful five weeks of trade for the shop because of high water for anglers looking to go fishing either for pleasure or competition matches, but sales over the past few days sales of waders, wellies and boots have virtually cleared out my shop. I am so sorry for the home and business owners who have been affected by flood damage.”
