1. Trick & Treat Family show at Stratford Playhouse, 29th to 31st October, ages three to nine, £8, www.stratford play.co.uk

The Stratford Playhouse’s ‘Spooktacular’ family show will feature two skeletons, Trick and Treat, as they try to rediscover their powers to petrify, with the help of Boo the Ghost and the Wolfhound.

Wear your most frightening fancy dress and enjoy a matinee of puppets, participation, and songs!

Take a journey through the Haunted Manor, solving puzzles to find your way out and win a prize. Lights and sound effects will lend the manor a moody aura.

At weekends a magician will be performing tricks, and during half term over 8s will be joined on their journey by a spooky companion.

Magic After Dark with Jester Styles and Sylvia Spectre at Magic Alley, 22nd and 26th October, ages 13+

Join Jester Styles and Sylvia Spectre on a journey through the Haunted Manor, experiencing the macabre with tarot cards, witchcraft and voodoo dolls.

Talking to the Dead: A Séance at Magic Alley, 28th October, ages 18+

Griffin and Jones try to reach the beyond with Victorian techniques, to see if anyone answers.

Nightmare: After Dark at Magic Alley, 29th to 31st October, ages 18+

Be ready to leap out of your skin at this scare attraction, with lights, sound and sinister presences setting you on edge. Calm your nerves afterwards with a glass of prosecco.

3. The Haunted Castle at Warwick Castle, 23rd to 31st October, £26, www.warwick-castle.com

Frightening favourites Witches Tower and Haunting Hallows will be back from the dead, alongside brand-new shows Upscares Downscares and Troll Hunter School. The Castle Dungeon will be open every day, where ghoulish guides will lead you through the castles hair-raising history.

When night falls on the castle its most unsettling events begin, with the Massacre-ade Ball and Hunted set to chill you at every turn. When your stomach has unknotted you can enjoy street food and craft beer as well as live music.

Join in with many fang-tastic activities such as the ‘scarevenger hunt’, building a giant vampire, and building a pumpkin to add to the patch with the help of the master model builders.

Wander the Trick or Tree trail with your activity pack, and get a prize you can create a creepy face with at home.

Feast your eyes on some of the spookiest sea-creatures of the underwater world, and help the Sea Witch find her potion ingredients along the aquarium trail.

Second Thoughts drama group bring you a tale of sinister intrigue from Constance Cox’s adaptation of the Wilkie Collins novel. Mystery, money and doppelgangers abound to create an unsettling stage production.

Explore the creepy rooms and corridors of the house, walk the cat trail and make slime kits, ghost decorations and potions in the play area.
