Spectacular cakes created for Shakespeare

Two special Shakespeare-themed cakes have been created by Stratford’s Welcombe Hotel to mark the 400 anniversary of the Bard’s death.

Designed in collaboration with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, the cakes were created by the talented pastry chef Petar Stoykov who took a week to bake and create them.

One cake is a 2D shape of Shakespeare's coat of arms and the other is a 3-tiered celebration cake created as an ode to Shakespeare and his plays.

The cakes will be on display at Shakespeare’s Birthplace all week until Saturday evening and visitors are welcome to come and take a look.

Last Christmas Petar created a stunning replica of Shakespeare’s Birthplace made entirely out of gingerbread.

Graeme Nesbitt, General Manager at The Hallmark Welcombe Hotel stated “We are delighted to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday by creating two special cakes in his honour. I would like to thank Petar for the creations which showcase his talent as a very experienced pastry chef. We hope visitors enjoy seeing the cakes on display and the birthday celebrations over the weekend”.
