Some schools closed for strike action
FOURTEEN schools in Warwickshire will be closed or partially today, Tuesday 5th July, for the National Union of Teachers (NUT) strike.
Members of the union will walk out, in what will be the NUT’s first national day of industrial action since 2014.
In a union ballot, 91.7 per cent voted in favour of strike action, with a 24.5 per cent turnout, to address school funding and to resume negotiations on teacher contracts.
Among the schools closing across the county, only a handful of schools from the area will be either fully or partially closed.
Dunnington C E Primary School, in Alcester, will be fully closed and will re-open on Thursday (7th July).
Emscote Infant School, in Warwick, is fully closed and will re-open on Wednesday (6th July).
Lighthorne Heath Primary School is partially closed to nursery and reception classes only, and will re-open on Wednesday.
Studley Infant School is partially closed and will re-open on Wednesday. The classes closed will be nursery, Year 1 Lisa Clemsen and Year 2 Cheryl Day.
