Sit tight - it's mop time!
ALCESTER High Street was the setting for the eagerly awaited return of the town’s annual mop fair on Tuesday.
In keeping with tradition, members of the Court Leet gathered with townsfolk to hear the High Bailiff, Tim Forman, read the Proclamation of 1292 that permits the fair to take place by Royal Charter.
After this court officers accompany children for a free ride on some of the attractions.
The event also raises money for the high bailiff’s chosen local charities.
The Mop is in Stratford-upon-Avon next Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th and opens to the public at 3pm and the next day at 11am respectively.
The fun of the fair returns to Stratford for the Runaway Mop on the 20th and 21st October.
