Shipston Medical Centre rated outstanding

Shipston Medical Centre has been rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

A team from the CQC, who visited the practice on the 1 March, concluded the centre’s services were safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs and were well-led.

Dr Jane Gilder, senior partner at the practice, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted with this result, recognising us as one of the 4% of practices nationally who are outstanding”

“It is a huge compliment to the whole practice team who work hard for our patients and the community we serve.”

Shipston Medical Centre cares for 11,300 patients in Shipston and the surrounding villages, with 46 staff employed at the site.

The doctors also provide medical cover for the patients at Shipston’s Ellen Badger Hospital and minor injuries unit.

A statement from the CQC inspection team added: “Patients told us that they received excellent care from GPs and the nurses and that practice staff were very caring.

“People described the staff as always helpful and that they went out of their way to be supportive.”
