Shipston building could be brought back into use as new cafe

THERE are plans for a new café in Shipston which would see a two-storey building brought back into use.

The Old Power House, which is on the site of a car wash business on the junction of West Street and Campden Road, has been unused for a number of years. A planning application has been submitted to Stratford District Council to turn the building into a café that would specialise in pizzas.

According to the planning application, the café would be similar to Marco’s deli in Church Street, Stratford, but with more tables – although the two businesses have nothing to do with each other.

The opening hours could be between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11am-9pm on Sundays, but they are seen as flexible within that range. The car wash would continue to operate in the adjacent building and parking area, although that parking would not be for café customers.

The documents state: “It is not possible to provide car parking on the site but it is expected that many of the customers will walk to the site [while] local parking surveys show there are consistently large numbers of vacant on-street parking and off-street parking spaces within easy walking distance.”
