Shakespeare Marathon in town on Sunday
THE Shakespeare Marathon takes to the streets of Stratford-upon-Avon once again this Sunday, 7th May.
This colourful annual sporting spectacle attracts thousands of runners from all over the country who raise valuable funds for charities of their choice like The Shakespeare Hospice
Veteran marathon man, Dave Phillips from Claverdon, is running his 34th Shakespeare Marathon having recently competed in the London Marathon where he raised £9,000 to add to his ongoing tally of £107k; he runs to raise money for the Brain and Spine Foundation.
Dave is now on his 477th marathon and wants to complete his 500th in Stratford in 2019.
A number of roads will close on Sunday, in Stratford town centre for this year’s Shakespeare Marathon and Half Marathon.
There will be rolling road closures on the following streets between 10.30am and 12.30pm: Bridge Street (from Waterside to Henley Street), Henley Street, Windsor Street, Meer Street, Rother Street, Chestnut Walk, Old Town, Church Street, Chapel Street, High Street, Wood Street, Waterside, Southern Lane, College Lane, Sanctus Street and Sanctus Road,
