Stratford’s new Monopoly board will feature the RSC on a prominent square the games’ makers confirmed this week.

Winning Moves UK also announced that the game will be launched at the RSC most likely in October with one lucky Stratfordian given the chance to play the very first board off the press.

This VIP (very important player) will also receive a copy of the board signed by everybody who appears on it.

Natasha Rebuck, from Winning Moves UK, said: “It’s an advance sell-out and we have had interest from all over the world.

“We are sure it’s the ultimate celebration of Stratford-upon-Avon past, present and future. World interest has come from tourists who have visited the town as well as ex-pats and in Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwickshire there appears to be very eager anticipation for the official board.

“We are looking to get it out as fast as possible, October is extremely likely otherwise it will be very early in November.

“From retailer reaction it could well be this year’s best Christmas seller. We can confirm the board will feature the great and good of Stratford-upon-Avon, with the RSC taking a prominent square.”

Catherine Mallyon, Executive Director of the RSC, added: “We are delighted to have been selected to host the official launch of the Stratford-upon-Avon version of this iconic game.

“The edition depicting Shakespeare’s home town is an inspired idea, especially in 2016 when we have all been marking the 400 anniversary of his death.

“We hope that people from around the world will take great pleasure in playing the game and that it continues to help celebrate Shakespeare’s inspirational work and global influence.”

To be in with the chance to play the first Stratford Monopoly board and receive a signed copy of the game, email VIP@6starpr.co.uk before 31 August explaining why you should be Stratford’s VIP.

Winning Moves UK have previously confirmed that the Shakespeare Hospice will occupy a square on the board.
