Rogue trader charged elderly person £1,000 to resurface driveway

POLICE are reminding homeowners to be extra vigilant after a rogue trader charged an elderly person £1,000 to resurface their driveway.

The incident happened in Gerard Road, Alcester, after a man driving a white van called at an elderly person’s house to say that he could resurface the driveway with tarmac for £1,000.

The man then 'painted' the drive with a black substance. When challenged by a family member he painted the driveway again. He was given a cheque for £1,000. The caller was concerned that the work was not up to standard and that the man may return asking for more money.
