Riders saddle up for hospice fundraiser
THE Great Shakespeare Ride 2018, which is aiming to raise £25,000 for The Shakespeare Hospice, takes place from Walton Hall on Sunday.
Dr Roy Lodge, a keen cyclist and fundraiser for the hospice, will lead out the 50km ride; Ros Brooks, its marketing and communications officer, will lead the 100km; and the 100-mile ride will be led by Tom Lennon, whose father was cared for by the hospice.
Later this year, Tom will be riding 744 miles in just seven days, from Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club to Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, visiting every Premiership rugby club and Twickenham.
Riders can enter between 6am and 8.45am on the day of the event, and there will also be a Family Fun Day, from 11am-4pm, in conjunction with the ride. Entry is free.
