Relief as village school saved from closure
Parents were sent a letter by school governors on 28th September announcing a “proposal to consolidate the split site of the St James’ and Ebrington Primary School onto the existing site in Chipping Campden by September 2016”. The letter came from the schools’ governing body, with the backing of the Diocese of Gloucester.
Shocked villagers were outraged by the closure proposal and quickly rallied to voice their objections.
As a result On Tuesday, this week, the governing body duly sent another letter to parents calling a halt to their proposals.
Yesterday, the chair of governors of St. James’ and Ebrington School, Chris Jones, said: "The whole point of consulting people is to listen to their views. It was quite clear from the initial feedback received that there is a wide gulf in understanding about the relationship between St James's and Ebrington. There needs to be agreement on this fundamental issue before any further discussion on the educational merits of the proposal can take place.”
