Police speed checks in response to residents' concerns
IN response to residents' concerns over speeding vehicles in Wellesbourne, Kineton and Charlecote the police carried out speed checks across the area on 1st August.
Vehicles were monitored driving into Wellesbourne village centre from the direction of Kineton, entering and leaving Kineton on the Warwick Road and through the centre of Charlecote from the A429.
Seven vehicles exceeded the 30 mph speed limit in Wellesbourne and Kineton, with the highest speed recorded at 45 mph. No vehicles were recorded as exceeding the speed limit in Charlecote. The police team said they appreciated the supportive comments made by several local residents who liaised with them.
PC Catherine Morgan from the Wellesbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "The speed checks were carried out after concerns were raised by residents about vehicle speeds in these villages. These checks follow others carried out in Gaydon earlier this month, and future checks are planned in other villages. Members of the public are our eyes and ears in our local communities, and we would encourage people to get in touch with the team on 101 to discuss anything which may be concerning them. If we know about any potential issues, we are in a better position to take appropriate action.”
