Police issue advice following attempted letter box car key theft
The resident was alerted by the noise, and disturbed the offenders and they then fled from the address.
Both suspects were males one described as white, of stocky build, 5ft 8” with red hair and the other man is thought to have been wearing a hat.
Police are reminding residents not to leave vehicle keys close to front doors and windows and not to leave their homes unattended with windows and doors open or unlocked.
Other advice includes installing a burglar alarm and ensuring the alarm box is clearly visible, not leaving keys in doors and to make sure you double lock doors.
People should also consider marking valuable items in the home with a UV marker or smart water and to take car keys and other valuables upstairs or into their bedroom at night.
If you have any information regarding the incident at Maidenhead Road call 101 quoting log 412 of 12 September.
