Vans and cars which raised suspicion were directed from Stratford town onto the leisure centre's car park.

The vehicles were then inspected to check they were roadworthy and not carrying anything illegal.

This included checking tax, insurance, faults on the vehicle and if they were using unauthorised diesel.

A total of three prohibition notices were given out by DVSA officers, one driver failed to have an MOT, another driver had no road tax and another driver was issued a Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme to change their number plate.

Sergeant Rich Thomas, from Stratford SNT, said: "The operation was a great success, sending a clear message to those who are involved in criminal activity that they will be stopped and we will continue to make Stratford a safe place to live.

"By working closely with other agencies we were able to provide a visible presence and uncover those who are illegitimately using our roads.

"We were pleased we were able to support this operation and used the opportunity to detect and prevent those from committing offences in the future."
