POLICE have launched an appeal for information following a suspicious fire at an Alcester home over the weekend.

The fire, which started around 8pm on Friday, is being treated as arson and police are looking for any information about the incident.

A private storage area containing wheelie bins and garden equipment was set on fire outside the home located on Hertford Road, Alcester.

A neighbour raised the alarm with the occupants who were able to leave the premises unharmed. But storage area was completely destroyed and the house suffered smoke damage inside and out.

Two appliances with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service from Alcester and Bidford responded where crews confirmed one large bin located close to the home was ‘well alight’ with smoke affecting the home. Crews used one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus and a PPV fan clear the smoke from inside the property. The Red Cross Fire Emergency Support Service also attended.

Anyone with information about the fire can call Warwickshire Police at 101 and quote incident number 373 of 11 May 2018.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
