POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted robbery in the Albany Road area of Stratford-upon-Avon on Tuesday.

The incident happened at around 4.40pm when a man was approached by an unknown man who demanded his watch.

The victim managed to escape from the offender, receiving a minor injury to his leg in the process.

The offender is described as a white man aged in his late teens or early twenties, six foot tall possibly with dark hair and 'fluffy' facial hair. He was wearing a dark grey hooded top with the hood worn up and dark coloured jeans.

Det Sgt Iain Shearer of Warwickshire Police said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anybody who saw a man matching the description of the offender.

"It is thought that the man may have been in the general area from around 3.30pm yesterday before leaving in the direction of Shottery after the incident.

"Officers have been patrolling the area and conducting house to house enquiries and I would like to reassure the local community that this appears to be an isolated incident."
