Picture special - crowds and classics at Wootton Wawen Car and Village Show

BLAZING sunshine, big crowds, cars from a bygone age, ice cream and, of course, burgers, all made for a classic summer sizzler at Wootton Wawen Car and Village Show.

Around 200 vehicles took part, divided into 12 categories for the judges, including motorcycle entries. Best of show was an Aston Martin with a classic MGA sports car runner-up.

Car enthusiasts at Sunday’s event also took a trip down memory lane with a closer look at a series of pre-war vehicles, a parade of Triumph Stags, a variety of other models and a big white American Cadillac.

For car show organiser, David Jones of Stratford and Henley Classic Car Club, it was his first time organising the event and he knew it was going to be a learning curve for him.

“It’s the first time I’ve run a show on that sort of scale and this was a joint effort to make the Wootton Wawen Social Club Car and Village Show so special.”

He added: “The village show had craft stalls and lots of family entertainment and the combined event made for a fantastic day which built on the success of last year’s get-together.”
