PICTURE GALLERY: Townsfolk go quackers for duck race
THIS year’s Alcester Duck Race started 20 minutes late because of the queues of people wanting to snap up their racing duck.
The 11th annual race raises money for the summer bunting and Christmas lights in the High Street.
Alcester’s High Bailiff, Tim Forman, signalled the start of the race as the ducks were released from a bridge over the River Arrow in Gas House Lane.
Conditions on the river were calm and all ducks were accounted for after they crossed the finishing line.
The winning duck was bought by Sophie Hunt, who gets £100, and plans to take her parents out for dinner.
The event on Saturday, 2nd July, raised £1,678 for good causes.
