PICTURE GALLERY: Duke of Kent visits Barford
AMID joyful school children and the backdrop of a perfect spring day,
HRH The Duke of Kent officially opened the refurbished King George’s Field in Barford on Wednesday.
The Duke was full of praise for the community of Barford when he said: “This is entirely a local project and I do congratulate everyone involved.”
Almost £500,000 has been raised in the last two years in order to create an exciting new children’s play area, a multi-use games area which includes two tennis courts, and an all-weather court for football.
HRH The Duke of Kent is a grandchild of Queen Mary and King George V, after whom the playing field in Barford is named. In re-opening the playing fields he was re-tracing his father’s footsteps. The then Duke of Kent opened King George’s Field in 1938.
