GLORIOUS sunshine and the perfect venue meant the first Forest of Hearts Fête was a huge success, according to its organisers.

The Riverside in Tiddington played host to what has been described as a fun-filled day on Sunday, 18th September, raising £1,800 to be divided between the Forest of Hearts, GAGA UK and Heart Research UK.

There was a dog show with prizes handed out for the waggiest tail, cutest puppy and best veteran, as well as music throughout the day from John Andre, In 2 Cul- tures and Stratford Strummers.

There were various stalls and competitions, including a raffle.

A joint statement by the three charities this week read: “With special thanks to the Riverside for a pro- viding a lovely venue, Ann-Louise Powell, who worked with the charities to get things off the ground, to all who volunteered on the day, to those who donated prizes, to stallholders, and of course, to all who came along to support the event.”

Forest of Hearts is being created on part of the former RAF Snitterfield site, Heart Research UK in the Midlands has funded £1.25m of research in the last 15 years as well as £250,000 in healthy heart grants, while Stratford-based Goodwill and Growth for Africa UK (GAGA UK) is an international children’s charity that supports health and education projects throughout Africa. It yarn bombs Stratford over Christmas as part of its Remembering Tree fundraiser.
