THE boss of the company that is hoping to bring the big wheel to Stratford-upon-Avon was at a public meeting in town on Tuesday night, the Herald can reveal.

Jan de Koning, managing director of De Koning Leisure Group Limited, did not make himself known at the meeting where Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council decided to oppose the wheel.

But speaking to the Herald afterwards he said: “I went to the town council meeting to observe.

"I only learnt about it the day before so there was no time for me to prepare a submission. I would have liked to, so I could explain our proposal.

"I will endeavour to answer many of the points raised in time for any planned meeting with the district council.

"As we know the proposal is out there for public consultation and people are entitled to have their say.”

For more from Mr de Koning and Stratford Town Council's decision to oppose the wheel, see this week's Herald.
