A FORMER deputy head boy at King Edward VI School in Stratford-upon-Avon has been elected the next president of The Oxford Union.

Daniel Wilkinson grew up in Stratford and attended KES before going to Oxford University (Oriel College) two years ago to study politics.

His role as president of The Oxford Union involves organising the series of speaker events and debates for the Hilary Term 2019 and effectively being CEO of the Union during that time.

“I am incredibly honoured to have been elected, especially after such a polarising campaign. Looking forward to implementing my agenda and trying to bring the Union up to date and out of the rigid structures that a lot of Oxford finds itself bound by. I’m the president-elect now until December and then become the President - and my term will finish in mid-March,” Dan said.
