Owner of Wolverton rescue farm appeals for winter cash help

AN animal sanctuary boss has appealed for help to keep it going through the winter.

Carole Webb, who runs The Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Wolverton, says huge hikes in the cost of food, other products and energy have left the team struggling to feed and care for the 400 animals on site.

The farm is home to sheep, pigs, chickens and cats plus her own dogs.

The 78-year-old former veterinary nurse, who set up the sanctuary more than 30 years ago, told the Herald: “The cost of everything has gone up. All our animals are very much in need of something.

“The sheep need hay, which is expensive, and the pigs need their feed and straw.”

She added: “Now we’re coming up to winter, it’s getting more expensive because things like food, bedding and energy costs are all going up more and more. We have to keep our animals well-fed, healthy and happy.”

Ms Webb thanked everyone who responded to an earlier plea for unwanted apples and fruit but said the farm now has enough.

Instead, she is appealing for cash donations which can be made via the sanctuary’s website.

The farm also offers tours for a minimum donation of £5, which include a chance to see and spend time with all of the animals.
