"Ongoing disturbance" reported at Long Lartin prison

A wing at HMP Long Lartin prison near Honeybourne was seized by inmates last night. Up to 80 prisoners are reported to have attacked staff at the Category A prison in Worcestershire which houses some of Britain's most dangerous criminals.

Inmates in E wing have rioted attacking prison officers with pool balls at the high-security facility where a 'tornado team' of heavily-armed specialist officers was deployed.

The Ministry of Justice has confirmed an "incident" has occurred at the prison which houses 622 inmates.
