Olympic Gold Winner Nick Skelton OBE inspires the next generation
ST Mary's Catholic Primary School in Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire had the opportunity to meet Olympic Gold British Show Jumper Nick Skelton OBE.
Nick gave an inspirational talk to the school children, who discovered the top five facts about the successful Olympic Gold medalist including his injury in 2000 that forced him to retire and then explained about he came back to win his gold medals.
Nick Skelton then concluded his talk with a Q&A with children asking a variety of questions including “how did you get the horse to Rio?” to "How many horses do you have?" and "do you have any records?" Nick replied he holds the highest jump on a horse recorded at over seven feet.
The children then had a chance to see and hold the winning gold medals to which one pupil said: "WOW this is amazing I have never seen a gold medal before, I can't believe how heavy they are."
