Nut roastery opens its doors in Stratford

Nuts could seriously change your life - look no further for evidence of this than Martyn Brook from Shottery, whose latest business venture was inspired by a serious health scare.

Following a brush with colon cancer, Martin self-cleansed himself with a complete change of diet which included eation raw food and nuts.

This is just one of several life-changing experiences Martyn ghas endured but he’s come through it all and on Thursday (26 May), he and his partner Mai Linburg will launch Nuts in ya Mouth at the Nut Roastery in Henley Street, in Stratford.

Martyn, who is a former award winning chef listed in Michelin Guide, has created a range of roasted nuts and breakfast cereals which are seriously healthy and free of artificial colourings, flavourings and preservatives.

The nuts are imported from around the world and roasted on site in Henley Street. For example, the almonds come from California, cashews - Vietnam, India and Australia, the hazel nuts are from Turkey and pistachios from Iran. These are taken by Martyn and his team and turned into some really, crunchy 100 per cent organic products with names like Mexican spice cashews, sour cream and onion cashews, chilli and honey cashews and roasted almonds.

In addition, Nuts in ya Mouth (NIYM) has also created a gluten free, organic, natural cereal branded known asRaw Granola Crunch, which is free from all processed sweeteners.

Martyn said: “Our Mission statement in this company is: ‘Building a fun and prestigious brand for a healthier lifestyle, based in the nut and health industry, everything we do should revolve around this.’

“Our shop in Stratford is being designed as the first and the prototype of a nationwide franchise of Nuts in ya Mouth Shops and Roasters. This will soon be a place where both tourists and locals can come in and smell, taste and take away freshly roasted nuts, from both our existing product range as well as new inspirations of our nutty nut roaster professionals and at the same time, pick up a bag of premium and exclusively selected coffee beans with an attitude.”

The shop and the franchise concept has evolved as a next logical step from Martyn’s work on the Nuts in ya Mouth brand, which has been underway for a couple of years now. The direct inspiration for the nut roaster franchise came from a recent trip to Hawaii where a similar concept was being developed by enthusiastic and inspiring young Americans.

“We are proud to have been approached by and now to involve a seasoned business man from the Subway Franchise, Glyn Sheffield in our company,” Martyn said.

He has plans to make nut butter, vegan ice cream, fudge and a whole range of what he describes as delicious liquorice products in time for Christmas.
