NFU staff raise £50,000 for guide dogs charity
The second event was a gruelling adventure challenge in the Lake District on 19 September which saw 50 members of staff raise an incredible £31,000.
16 teams from NFU Mutual took part in the Coniston Adventure Challenge which saw them hike 10km to the summit of Old Man Coniston, cycle 12km through the forests of Grizedale and kayak Coniston Water.
The fastest NFU Mutual team were from Head Office Claims and completed the challenge in 5 hours 40 minutes, placing them 9 out of 54 teams competing.
Beth Pritchard, Corporate Social Responsibility Executive at NFU Mutual, said: “A special mention for fundraising must go to our team 'May the Paws Be With You' from our Customer Service Operations department. They have raised £3,178, with more donations still to come. A fantastic effort.
“The event will also be run next year, and we’re hoping to have a huge presence from NFU Mutual once again. It was tough going, but a fantastic experience for a great cause.”
Guide Dogs was voted by NFU Mutual staff to be their corporate charity for 2015, and during this year colleagues are hoping to raise £125,000.
This will fund one Guide Dog for Life, costing £50,000, and up to 15 Guide Dog puppies in their first year.
