New homes given go-ahead for Cattle Market site

NEW homes look set to fill the void that has been an eyesore in Stratford-upon-Avon for years as Stratford District Council gave the thumbs up to develop the former Cattle Market site on Alcester Road.

The council’s planning committee granted permission for the building of 189 one, two and three-bedroom homes as part of a £40 million makeover of the site by Orbit. The new development will be known as Arden Quarter and is due to be completed in 2018/19. It will include parking and access to the railway station and soon to be opened Stratford Hospital.

The Cattle Market site has been the subject of several planning proposals none of which were successful but last August a glimmer of hope emerged when Orbit unveiled their plans for the site at a public exhibition.
