AT Stratford-on-Avon District Council’s annual meeting today (Wednesday) Cllr Sue Adams (Cons, Alcester and Rural) became the new chairman of the authority.

Cllr Adams – who has been vice-chairman for the past year – took over the chain of office from Cllr Mike Gittus (Cons, Kinwarton). The new vice-chairman is Cllr George Atkinson (Cons, Tanworth-in-Arden).

The chosen chairman’s charities of Cllr Adams are the Stratford Cancer and Eye Hospital £1 Million Appeal and Life Space, Stratford-upon-Avon (mentoring young people and helping them to achieve more).

During Cllr Gittus’s term of office he raised £5,383.65 for the Alcester Dementia Café and the Stratford Cancer and Eye Hospital £1 Million Appeal.

Cllr Adams has been a member of Stratford District Council since 2006.
