More Macmillan cash raised by local people
THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised by enthusiastic supporters of Macmillan Cancer Support during its annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning held last Friday.
Schools, businesses, hotels, shops and church groups all plugged into the event and sold coffee and cakes to help raise funds.
Stratford Rock Choir braved the lashing rain on the Bancroft Gardens last Saturday with their renditions of several popular songs like The Beatles’ Help from My Friends to boost the charity drive while staff from Stratford’s M&S collected £114 in buckets at the same event. The store itself raised £2,500 for Macmillan throughout the weekend.
The coffee morning was first held in 1990 and last year — its 25th anniversary — raised around £27.5million.
