Monopoly moment of truth for Stratford

THE moment of truth for Stratford-upon-Avon to have a Monopoly board named after the town is fast approaching but we won't know who has been chosen among the five Midland towns shortlisted until this Thursday.

While the Herald has led a valiant bid to get Stratford chosen ahead of Warwick, Leamington, Gloucester and Shrewsbury only a select few know the final outcome but all will be revealed in this Thursday's edition of the newspaper.

Members of the public were invited to vote on line or by post to nominate their favourite town for the Monopoly title and become a member of a select group of towns and cities with the board game named after them like London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Northampton and Coventry.

Voting closed on 29th February and it remains to be seen whether the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Shakespeare houses replace the likes of Mayfair and Park Lane but on Thursday the waiting will be over.
