Missing man may have been identified
POLICE officers remained at Waterside in Stratford today (Sunday) following a report of a man entering the river on Friday evening.
Thorough searches of the river have been conducted and will continue with enquiries ongoing throughout the day.
The incident is being linked to a report of an assault outside McDonald's on Bridge Street in the town at 9.30pm on Friday, when officers were called and followed a man towards the river where he was seen to enter the water.
Yesterday, Saturday, police released an image of a man whose welfare they are concerned for.
A spokesperson for Warwickshireolice said: “A number of people have since come forward with information and it is thought the man may be Cameron Whelan, 26, from the Moseley area in Birmingham.
“We would encourage Cameron or anyone who knows of his whereabouts to come forward and contact police on 101 quoting incident number 482 of 25 May so we can ensure he is safe and well.
