Mirror suspected of causing Wellesbourne fire

Firefighters believe the sun reflecting off a double sided mirror may have triggered a house fire in Wellesbourne yesterday.

Crews from Stratford and Leamington were called to the fire at a residential property on Wellesbourne bypass at around 5.30pm, managing to contain the blaze in an upstairs bedroom.

The first floor of the three storey building was 100 smoke logged, but firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading from a first floor bedroom using hose reels, covering jets and positive pressure ventilation.

At this stage firefighters believe the fire was probably caused by the sun reflecting off a double sided mirror and igniting curtains in the bedroom.
