Mayor opens organisation's national headquarters in Stratford

Stratford mayor Cllr Juliet Short officially opened the national headquarters of the Institute of Fire Engineers in the town last week, during a special ribbon cutting ceremony.

The organisation has been based in the building on Timothy Bridge Road for the past five years but last Monday saw it officially purchase the office.

During the opening ceremony the institute’s newly elected international president Brian Davey gave a short presentation in front of a number of key figures in the fire industry.

Founded in 1918, the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) has around 10,000 members and more than 40 branches worldwide.

As a registered charity the IEF is a highly valued institution for fire professionals and awards internationally recognised membership and fire related qualifications.

A small team of staff will now be based in Stratford dealing with the administration and management of the IFE’s work.
