Man dies following lift shaft fall in Warwick




A man has died after falling down a lift shaft in Warwick this week.

The incident occurred at a business premises on Haywood Road just before 1.30pm on Tuesday and the West Midlands Ambulance Service and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.27pm to a business premises on Haywood Road in Warwick. On arrival a man was found to have fallen down a lift shaft.

“The man had sustained significant injuries in the fall and was rapidly extricated with the help of the fire service. CPR and advanced life support was administered to the casualty but it became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“An ambulance, a paramedic support officer, a senior paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board were sent to the scene.”

The man has yet to be named by the police.
