Man charged after fatal bike crash

A 35-year-old man has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a motorcyclist died in Wootton Wawen on Monday night.

Craig Glenn Allen, of no fixed address, appeared before magistrates in Leamington yesterday, Wednesday, morning and was remanded in custody until 26th May when he will appear at Warwick Crown Court.

The crash on the A3400 Stratford Road happened at around 8.45pm and involved a silver Ford Fiesta and an orange Kawasaki motorbike.

The driver of the motorbike, a 27-year-old man, died at the scene.

He had not been named when the Herald went to press. Two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer and a doctor from the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance responding in a car attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The motorcyclist, a man, was in traumatic cardiac arrest. The medic and ambulance staff worked as a team to deliver advanced life support on the man.

“Sadly, the motorcyclist couldn’t be revived and he was confirmed dead on scene.” P

olice officers investigating the incident have said they would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash, or who saw either of the vehicles, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the collision occurred.
